Swedish or Gustavian Style Sweden's long dark dreary winters had a strong influence on Swedish Style. Glass, crystal, mirror and polished metal was used to increase the light from candles. To achieve this look in your home, look for lighting with the look of candles. White candle sleeves are more authentic. Crystal chandeliers and sconces, silver, brass or pewter finishes. Painted wood and china are also consistent with Gustavian Style. Another authentic look is a lantern style pendant with clear glass held in a brass frame with white candle sleeves. Also look for wall sconces in crystal, wood or metal with a decorative motif such as a bow.
